The 2017 growing season was unforgettable in the Napa Valley. Late spring rain kept us on our toes, followed by a summer of incredible temperature spikes, including a sustained hot spell at Labor Day, just as we prepared to pick. It was the kind of year that can keep a winemaker up at night, but even with all mother nature threw at us, the vintage proved to be more than we ever could have hoped for. The harvest was small but the fruit was complex and flavorful. The 2017 vintage is light gold in color with intense and mineral aromas, mixing oyster shell, honeysuckle and citrus. On the palate it is fresh and vibrant with notes of grilled almond and pear, playing along with spices, limestone, stone- fruit and green apple. The finish is long and will continue to develop with 8-10 years of cellaring. This is the sort of vintage we always hope for and it will be a joy to watch it evolve over time.
