Stony Hill 2023 Estate Chardonnay
No. 1

2023 Estate Chardonnay
Limit: 12 Bottles

The 2023 Chardonnay is classic in every way: crystalline, pure, vibrant, and unmistakably Stony Hill. The wine comes from our 1988 plantings of heritage Wente Chardonnay, planted at 1,000 feet of elevation just above the residence, where the first vines were planted at Stony Hill.

Aromas unfurl of pear, pomelo pith, underripe white peach, tarragon, and flint. A long, cool year from a classic Napa Valley vintage made a structured and lithe wine that is enjoyable now and will age for many years. This wine was fermented on wild yeasts in 500L puncheons, 15% of which were new Austrian oak. Approximately half the wine went through malolactic conversion.

98 Points – Vinous
“The 2023 Chardonnay is a total stunner. Citrus peel, white flowers, crushed rocks, dried herbs and brisk saline notes stain the palate. A vivid, riveting wine, the 2023 is positively spectacular from start to finish. It spent 18 months in 500-liter barrels, with 15% new wood. In time, the 2023 will take its place as one of the greatest Chardonnays ever made at Stony Hill. It’s as simple as that.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Stony Hill 2023 Cuvee Eleanor McCrea
No. 2

2023 Cuvée Eleanor McCrea Cabernet Sauvignon
Limit: 12 Bottles

An Homage to Eleanor McCrea
Over 48 years, Eleanor and Fred McCrea built Stony Hill into a world-class winery from nothing but a steep hillside. Eleanor was a gifted businesswoman, loyal friend, and a force behind the creation of Napa Valley’s Agricultural Preserve. It is to her memory that we dedicate this special Estate Cabernet Sauvignon cuvée.

This wine expresses the terroir of Stony Hill: the mineral-driven elegance that generations of connoisseurs have come to expect from Spring Mountain District’s oldest continuously operating winery. The 2023 Cuvée Eleanor is sourced from our hillside vineyards. Aromas of fresh red plum, black cherry, graphite, fresh tobacco leaf, and forest floor fill the glass. This lithe mountain wine displays supple tannin, and tremendous breadth and length without being heavy. Supple and harmonious on the palate, with a persistent and mouth-watering finish this wine is enjoyable now and will continue to gain complexity for many years to come.
