The 2016 White Riesling is emblematic of what one expects from a young, vibrant Riesling: fresh, bright, intensely aromatic, with a touch of richness from its hint of residual sugar. This wine contains fruit from two complementary locations: our own vineyard, whose 68-year-old vines are deep in wisdom but low in yield, and an exceptional Riesling vineyard in the cool climate Carneros region at the south end of the Napa Valley. We couldn’t be happier with the results. The nose is a combination of stone and flower; minerality and apple blossoms go hand-in-hand. With less than one percent residual sugar, its sweetness is nicely balanced with a crisp acidity. The initial sweetness is quickly replaced by candied orange peel and a delicate yet lingering finish. Consider pairing this lovely young wine with spicy Asian cuisine.
