2012 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer
The quantity may change, and dramatically, but the quality never!
2011 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer
Don't stumble over the long name; go directly to the glass for a delightful reward!  This young Gewurztraminer is perfectly balanced, fresh and clean as a whistle with an earthy flintiness and underlying fruitiness.  Its feathery light fragrance has the typical GT grapefruit character along with a wet stone quality and a hint of fresh green garden herbs.  Its tart citrus flavor overlays richer notes of dried apricots and figs.  This wine is as delicate as it gets, and we... more »
2010 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer
We think our Gewurztraminer is the perfect accompaniment to our California cooking, which is so dominated by seriously well-flavored Mexican and Asian food.  The 2010 is plaest straw in color with a clean aroma redolent of grapefruit, rose petals, and of course, the Asian Lychee.  When you taste this wine you'll feel a crisp freshness on the palate that cuts through all the spicy flavors of the dish and acts as a palate cleanser.  A bit of spice and fair amount of minerality... more »
2009 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer
In our effort to make relatively low alcohol wines, this Gewurztraminer comes in at just 12 %, having been picked and crushed at 21.2 sugar. The resulting wine is palest straw in color with .64 acidity and a low pH of 3.33. It is quite tart at the moment with the lovely taste of white flowers and lychee. We consider it a flawless wine and a fine foil for spicy south of the border and Asian flavors. Our present favorite is a Mexican Corn dish either on the cob or as a side dish flavored... more »
2008 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer
Gewurztraminer is moving to center stage! Well, at least people are learning to pronounce it, beginning to recognize its innate gifts, and wonder of wonders, buying it! It's been one of our best sellers this summer. Our 2008 vintage, which is pale straw in color, immediately captures your attention with its enticing grapefruit aroma. The mouth feel is very clean, fresh and dry with flavors of citrus and flintiness dominating. We recommend it as a good food wine, easily paired with Asian... more »
2007 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer
We feel lucky to have about two and a half acres of the 1, 670 acres of Gewurztraminer planted in California. Yes, ours is a miniscule portion of the whole Gewurztraminer planting. But then compare that to the 480,000 acre total of wine grapes in the state, and you have to ask yourself, "why so little Gewurztraminer," when with one taste you realize what a distinctive wine it is. We can't answer the profounder Gewurztraminer questions pondered over the years by such eminent wine writers as... more »
