" I served with a bottle of Stony Hill Gewurztraminer and you'd be hard pressed to find a better pairing..."
2006 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer |
|
We are so happy to have our Gewurztraminer fields backing full production after years of replanting and nursing young vines along. A bit of maturity in the vineyard combined with clear sunny skies in May brought us a sizeable crop for the first time in recent years. We love this hillside grown grape because it shows what a delicious wine can result from our particular Stony Hill soils, individually tended vines, and the vintner's craft in the winery. The wine is palest straw in color, its bouquet is of lychee nuts with a tart grapefruit flavor in the mouth. It reminds us of the 2003 vintage in its freshness and earthiness, like rubbing up against the greenness of a spring garden. We can't wait to start serving this wine with shrimp and pork pot stickers with Vietnamese chili sauce! Another plus for this wine is the 12% alcohol content. |
