2008 Stony Hill Gewurztraminer

Gewurztraminer is moving to center stage! Well, at least people are learning to pronounce it, beginning to recognize its innate gifts, and wonder of wonders, buying it! It’s been one of our best sellers this summer. Our 2008 vintage, which is pale straw in color, immediately captures your attention with its enticing grapefruit aroma. The mouth feel is very clean, fresh and dry with flavors of citrus and flintiness dominating. We recommend it as a good food wine, easily paired with Asian and southwestern dishes. Try this very simple summer and autumn dish: Roast ears of corn on the barbecue and then slather them with chipotle butter and top them with chopped cilantro and a bit of grated Queso Fresco. The spicy, smoky flavors are sure to send you back for seconds. And don’t forget the Gewurztraminer!
