2003 SHV Tocai Friulano

Tasting Notes: This is the cleanest, freshest Tocai Friulano we have made since we began collaborating with Kate and Cam Baker at Larkmead Vineyards in 2000. It has a pale straw color, an earthy, dry mineral nose, and a tart, astringent feel in the mouth. As we have learned from the 2000 vintage, this wine mellows out very nicely with a year or two of age. Mike Chelini calls it a crisp, summer wine, and we think of it as very Italianesque and the perfect wine to accompany the antipasti platter at your picnic. Just picture the crusty bread, copa, prosciutto, dried Italian cheeses, olives, and sun dried tomatoes, and next to them on the table two sparkling glasses of Tocai Friulano.
