Winemaker Mike Chelini says he wants people to "taste the vineyard" when they take a sip of Stony Hill Chardonnay. And sure enough, your first taste of the 2011 vintage is of very young, pure Chardonnay fruit with distinctive notes of apple and citrus and a hint of the Spring Mountain soil layered in.

"I believe this is going to be a great wine...it already is!"  That's what winemaker Mike Chelini says about our 2010 Chardonnay vintage.  As always, it is pale straw in color.  Its aromas carry a distinctive minerality backed by green apple, Muscat and lemon zest.  The mouth feel combines richness and acidity, and it's that balance of fruit and tartness that we always...

Our 2009 vintage is a perfect example of the winemaker’s art. Mike Chelini has been crafting Chardonnay at Stony Hill for thirty-nine years, always bringing out the essential characteristics of our hillside grown grapes. The aromas of green apples and citrus that greet you are unmistakable. As the wine opens up, the fresh fruit on your tongue is joined by the flinty, earthy quality that...

As always, our Chardonnay is pale straw in color, and once you put your nose to the glass and inhale the aroma of pure Chardonnay fruit, you won't be able to put it down! With the first sip you'll taste a complexity of flavors dominated by citrus and green apple with an underlying current of earth and stone, which we call minerality. Winemaker Mike Chelini says, "Wow, that's a mouthful! A...

The 2013 Rosenda de la Sombra is a beautiful Provence-style rosé wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes shaded by our Redwood and Douglas fir trees. Although you're not likely to find a Cabernet Rosé in Provence, our Rosenda has all the makings of that fresh, bright, dry summer wine. It has a crystal clear coppery color, light berry fragrance, flavors of red berry fruit with a hint of citrus, and a crisp acidity which gives it a vibrant mouth feel.

The questions is: Can you make wonderful wine from 65 year-old vines? And the answer is a resounding yes! Peter's parents planted our Riesling vines in 1948, and yes, we've had to replace a few no longer bearing fruit. But our philosophy has always been the older the vine, the more elegant the wine. The 2012 vintage is palest straw in color with .9 percent residual sugar, which frames stone fruit and cantaloupe notes on the tongue. The aroma has a touch of the classic German petrol and minerality as well. This Riesling is perfectly balanced with a delicate intensity and lingering fruit-filled finish.

Our 2012 Gewurztraminer is floral elegance in a bottle. It's and intensely aromatic wine with hints of honeysuckle and citrus, and on the tongue it has a bright cirtus taste, some say grapefruit, some say orange peel. This lively mouth feel is followed by a generous viscosity on the finish, which is surprising for so young a wine.

Mike Chelini's second vintage of Cabernet beautifully reflects Stony Hill's mountain Cabernet vineyard with its sun-drenched southwest exposure and deep red, loamy soils. The resulting wine is rich in black cherry fruit and fragrant herbs, combined with that Stony Hill "from the earth" quality. Nicely balanced between rich fruit flavors and bright acidity, the wine shows subtle tannins, a lively texture and long finish. True to Mike's fruit-first and light-touch style of winemaking, the Cab has 13.5% alcohol and promises a long life to come.

Here is a touch of gold for your glass! The 2011 Semillon has a complex aroma of creamy caramel, dried apricots and figs, and a slight touch of honeyed botrytis. The wine is less sweet than usual with 4.5 percent residual sugar, but the explosion of dried fruit flavors in your mouth will enhance any stone fruit dessert of cheese course to end your meal. The long finish show the delicious touch of honeyed botrytis which will develop more prominently in years to come.

"I believe this is going to be a great wine...it already is!" That's what winemaker Mike Chelini says about our 2010 Chardonnay vintage.  As always, it is pale straw in color.  Its aromas carry a disinctive minerality back by green apple, Muscat and lemon zest.  The mouth feel combines richness and acidity, and it's that balance of fruit and tartness that we always strive for.
