...one of the great names in Chardonnay, Stony Hill
This winery is one of the great names in California wine. Founded in 1952,
it has remained focused on Chardonnay, with winemaker Michael Chelini intent
on maintaining its tight, subtle style. The 1999 vintage is one of the best in recent years. This wine is a very pure expression of the rocky vineyard where the grapes are grown, right down to the flinty, stony finish. It's never oaky, but driven by pure, rich fruit flavors, and you can cellar it for years.
